Frisco Chiropractor Dr. Grant Stowell
… over 14 years service as a chiropractor in Frisco TX.
“Grant Stowell treats his patients the way he would want to be treated.” And that’s easy to believe when you know how he became a convert to chiropractic medicine.
Grant was three years into a traditional M.D. program at the University of Western Ontario in Canada. He was pursuing his MD almost as hard as his other passion – competitive bodybuilding. While very successful in his medical studies he was less so in his sport – persistent, repetitive back pain and spasms from the heavy lifting kept him from reaching his goals.
“No problem” you might say, “he’s surrounded by physicians all day – get it treated!” And indeed, his professors in the medical school proposed many treatments: physiotherapy, surgery, potentially addictive drugs for the pain, and direct spinal injections of cortico-steroids to reduce swelling and inflammation.
Many would have taken that advice without question, yet Grant did question the medical establishment he was becoming a part of, and he did not follow their advice. To subject a robustly healthy mid-twenties body to “therapies” with potentially very serious side effects seemed fundamentally flawed to him.
Skeptical as only a med student could be, Grant visited a local chiropractor at the invitation of a friend. After listening to the doctor’s explanation of the science behind the procedures Grant suspended his disbelief long enough for a six-week course of chiropractic adjustments and manipulations.
It worked! He never had back pain again despite continuing his heavy bodybuilding regimen. Moreover, as a result of this powerful demonstration, Grant left his medical school studies and enrolled in Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas. He graduated with his Doctorate in Chiropractic in 1998 then opened his practice as a Frisco chiropractor in 1999.
Dr. Stowell’s education in two different disciplines and for over 200 credit-hours in post-doctoral study has, not surprisingly, resulted in his multi-disciplinary approach to relieving pain and increasing healthful funtioning for his patients.
Chiropractic manipulative adjustments, Gonstedd, Thompson, Activator Coupled reduction set, functional rehabilitation and other chiropractic methods are chosen and utilized as appropriate to circumstances. More often these established methods are mixed with Applied Kinesiology, Myofascial Adhesion Release or Active Release Techniques to create the optimum, unique healing protocol for each individual patient.
The results are quick, comprehensive, and aimed at long term flexibility and strength – the state of wellness we all seek.
